A website project goes faster, costs less and performs better when a few key decisions are made up front. Before you speak to any developer, work through these seven questions.
1. What should a visitor do?
Pick the one action that matters most — request a quote, book a call, buy a product or send a WhatsApp message. Every page should guide people towards it.
2. Who is the site for?
Describe your ideal customer in a sentence or two. A site for procurement managers reads very differently from one for first-time home buyers.
3. Which pages do you really need?
Most businesses start with Home, Services, About, Projects or Portfolio, and Contact. Add more only when there is real content to fill them.
4. Who will write the content?
Content is the most common cause of delays. Decide early who writes the copy and who supplies photos of your team, office and work.
5. What needs to be managed after launch?
If you will add projects, articles or job openings yourself, ask for an admin area so you do not need a developer for every change.
6. Which systems must it connect to?
Payment gateways, WhatsApp, email marketing, a CRM or Google Analytics — list them now so they are included in the plan and the budget.
7. How will you measure success?
Agree on a few numbers to watch: enquiries per month, quote requests or online sales. Then make sure analytics is set up from day one.
